During the week of parliamentary representation, the first vice president of the Congress of the Republic, Leyla Chihuán, visited one of the venues hosting Lima 2019 Pan American Games competitions: the Army Equitation School.
To date, a progress of 80% has been made at this equestrian venue, located in La Molina district. It has a complete Cross Country Circuit, with 4600 m of new grass sowed in advance to be ready to host this sport. A new technical watering system was installed to secure a surface in optimal conditions to practice equestrian sports.
Besides, this venue has the main stage for jumping and dressage: 3 tracks for competition, warm-up and training, made of silica sand, with a total of 19,500 m2, built according to the standards and requirements of the International Equestrian Federation.
During her visit, Chihuán shared her enthusiasm for the tangible progress made at the equestrian sports venue. “This is one of the last few infrastructure works we still had to visit. I am very pleased because I have seen that work is been carried with top level standards. Equestrianism is a sport that draws a lot of attention. I am sure that we will be up to the international competition level,” she said.
“We have good representatives in this sport, competing abroad. It is a very elegant sport. The amazing connection between the rider and the horse draws a lot of attention from the public. We will be hosting the Pan American Games this time and that will help us promote equestrian sports,” she said.
Visit to Las Palmas
In the meantime, Congress representative Roberto Vieira visited the shooting and Para shooting competition venue for the second time. This venue is being built to receive the best competitors of the Americas during the Pan American and Parapan American Games.
Improvements and enlargements of the Capitán FAP José Abelardo Quiñones Gonzales shooting range sports services are being made. The process to execute infrastructure works at this venue was carried out under the Government-to-Government Agreement with the United Kingdom.
This is the same process followed for Lima 2019 large infrastructure projects, such as the Pan American and Parapan American Village, VIDENA, Villa María del Triunfo, Callao and Villa El Salvador Sports Center. The speed of this transparent awarding processes was possible thanks to the Government-to-Government Agreement with the United Kingdom.

The progress is positive because works are being carried out in various shifts. I am impressed by the progress made and I am pleased to know that we will meet optimal conditions for an event of great exposure for Peru. The Pan American Games will leave an important legacy that will allow us to promote sports for the people,” he said.
