Lima 2019 Organizing Committee president Carlos Neuhaus, Minister of Defense José Huerta, and Army Major General Jorge Celiz inspected the various facilities of the Lima 2019 equestrian sport competition venue, which is now ready.
The officials visited the stables and the veterinary clinic, as well as the main silica course and cross-country or eventing course at the Army Equestrian School located in La Molina. These facilities are amazing stages for dressage, jumping and eventing competitions.
The authorities took this opportunity to reaffirm the Peruvian Army’s commitment with a national project such as the Lima 2019 Games. In this regard, Neuhaus assured that all the efforts of military personnel—who actively participated in refurbishing the venue, with 80 military officers and heavy machinery to execute earthworks—will be reflected in the legacy of a world-class sporting venue.
“This will be a wonderful legacy for the Army and sports. I am sure that international tournaments will be held at this venue. This stage is perfect for a world championship. We are leaving something very useful, because it will also allow the School to generate income for its upkeep.”
Meanwhile, the minister of defense praised the new and renovated facilities, and stressed the responsibility the Army will have after competitions conclude to use them and maintain them properly.
“We will have the great challenge of maintaining this course that is currently considered as one of the best in the world. We must be proud of having facilities of this nature in our country. It is all thanks to the Lima 2019 Games Organizing Committee and the efforts of Carlos Neuhaus and his team.”
In addition, they highlighted the constant help of the Peruvian Army with the construction and adaptation of several Lima 2019 precincts, not only this one, such as Las Palmas Shooting Range and the earthworks in the Pan American Village and the Villa María del Triunfo Sports Center which allowed to accelerate the progress of infrastructure projects.
