The Peruvian archery team made an exhibition at 5093 Antonio Raimondi school in Ventanilla. This sport will be part of the Pan American Games.
Archery will be held at Villa María del Triunfo Sports Center from August 7 to 13 in two events: recurve and compound.
The Peruvian team obtained five quotas for the Pan American Games: one for women’s compound and one for men’s compound, two quotas for women’s recurve and one for men’s recurve.
Oscar García, Violeta Escobedo, Sevastián Urquia, Karen Salas y Milagros Trujillo showed their strength, firmness and aim for the best shot, for 700 children, motivating them to practice this sport.
Milagros Trujillo is 17 years old and started to practice this sport one year ago. “It is really good to meet the students and be an example of passion for the sport. I told students to trust themselves because their essence might reflect in this sport,” she said.
Violeta Escobedo, who stands out in compound archery, is looking for a place in the Pan American Games and it inspires her. “The greatest happiness and pride would be to sing our national anthem on top of the podium,” she said.
“This sport can be practiced from 7 years old to 70 years old in equal conditions. The possibilities of learning are quite big,” said Oscar García, president of the federation.
José Manayay was one of the lucky students who participated in this sport and was very happy to meet the athletes. “I got nervous because I was in front of everybody and I was afraid that the arrow slips, but I like this sport and I want to practice it,” he said.
“Our students oculd see a nice demonstration and it is an honor to witness the great talent of these athletes who will represent us in the Pan American Games,” said Esperanza Díaz, principal of the school.
In this way, Lima 2019 attended the event promoted by the Regional Government of Callao called “Callao is Lima 2019” to promote several sports disciplines in schools of Callao.
