The Peruvian athletics delegation received, from the Peruvian Olympic Committee (COP), the silver medal that they won in the women's 4x100 m relay at the XI South American Games Cochabamba 2018. Our representatives are training to participate in the biggest challenge of their careers: the Lima 2019 Pan American Games.
The team represented Peru at the South American Games held in Bolivia and was made up by Paola Mautino, Maitte Torres, Kimberly Cardoza and Diana Bazalar. It is important to mention that the Peruvian athletes obtained the third place in the competition. However, after the disqualification of Bolivia (second place at that moment) due to a doping case, the team obtained the second place.
The silver medals were awarded by the COP president Pedro del Rosario and the chef de mission Jenny Martinez during a ceremony at the COP facilities at VIDENA.
Milco Is Unstoppable
The official mascot of Lima 2019, Milco, also participated in the ceremony, congratulating the outstanding performance of the Peruvian athletes and wished them luck in their preparation for the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, to be held from July 26 to August 11.
Also, the mascot shared the Pan American Games values: excellence, friendship, respect and courage.
Competition Venues
Currently, the Athletics Stadium is under construction at the National Sports Village (VIDENA). This sports venue is being asphalted and then a modern athletic floor will be placed on the race track, as it will host the best athletes of this sport during the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games.
