PERUVIAN BOXERS PRAISE GAMES LEGACY

Less than 100 days before the start of the Pan American Games, all the districts of Lima are starting to fully experience the sports fever. This time, Magdalena witnessed the “fight of the year” in the history of Peruvian boxing, and Lima 2019 was present during this competition.

Boxers Jonathan Maicelo and Carlos “Mina” Zambrano attended this event and expressed their satisfaction with the legacy that Lima 2019 will leave for Peruvian sports.

“I think it’s important that Peru hosts the Games because they’ll promote other sports and will make athletes more competitive,” stated Maicelo.

“I was in Santo Domingo and Río De Janeiro. Having the Games in Peru is amazing. After Lima 2019, sport will be popularized and will be seen from a new perspective,” added Zambrano.

Likewise, Luis Miranda, one of Peru’s Lima 2019 representatives in the 69 kg category, cannot wait for the Games to start. “My goal is to claim a medal, and I’m preparing for that,” pointed out the Peruvian boxer who recently qualified in Managua.

Jesús Bravo also stressed the importance of Lima 2019. Bravo, known as “El Rayo”, defeated César Díaz for the super lightweight title of the National Professional Boxing Commission. “It’s a great opportunity for all young people and it encourages them to say Peru has talented athletes.”

The Municipality of Magdalena will keep supporting sports activities and the promotion of the Games. “The Games are very important for Magdalena because sports new infrastructure is being built for this event,” said Luis Domínguez, Human Development Management representative of the municipality.

Thus, the organization keeps promoting the Lima 2019 Pan American Games and Parapan American Games, in order to strengthen the values values required for sports practice and to confirm the message of Lima 2019: Let’s all play, let’s play fair.

The Miguel Grau Coliseum, located in Callao, will host all boxing competitions from July 27 to August 2.
