“The Pan American and Parapan American Games are the most important sport event to be ever held in Peru,” said Lima 2019 Communications, Commercial and Marketing Manager Juan Antonio Silva, during the launch of the “Callao is Lima 2019” Campaign.
Therefore, twenty schools in Callao Region will benefit from the presence of athletes, between March 20 and July 3. These athletes will perform exhibitions of the disciplines that will be held in the region venues.
The campaign will also encourage students from Callao to be part of the Games as spectators and will help promoting sports.
The Callao regional governor Dante Mandriotti, with the phrase “Callao is sport and is ready for Lima 2019,” said that people in Callao will be the best Games host, and these activities are helping people to identify with the Games.
Callao will have new and modern facilities at the Regional Sports Village for this international event. Callao Sports Center is located at the Village and will host volleyball and taekwondo competitions during the Pan American Games, and sitting volleyball and Para taekwondo during the Parapan American Games.
The Miguel Grau Coliseum will host boxing and wrestling during the Pan American Games; and goalball competitions at the Parapan American Games.
The event was held at the San Antonio Marianistas school in Callao with the presence of the Congresswomen Paloma Noceda and Leyla Chihuán, the Lima 2019 ambassador Thalía Mallqui; and Milco, the Games mascot.
