With a little over five months to go until the biggest multi-sport event in the Americas in our country, Lima 2019 Volunteer Program expects to gather more than 4000 people this week for the Training Process for the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games.
This new training workshop will be held this weekend and next Tuesday, March 5, at the main universities of Lima and Pisco. This workshop is part of the latest training sessions that will be held in the country until March 17.
This training process aims to provide participants with the necessary tools in terms of knowledge and competencies to carry out their role successfully in the Games, as well as help to create a social legacy. This program will be carried together with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
It should be noted that the training experience is one of the most important benefits of the Lima 2019 Volunteer Program and reach about 40,000 applicants for volunteers; it consists of 20 class hours between in-person and virtual training. This process started with the general in-person training for applicants for the position of volunteers in Peru.
Training sessions are being held at the following venues: Lima, Callao, Chiclayo, Trujillo, Cajamarca, Huancayo, Tacna, Arequipa, Cusco, Tarapoto, Ica, Cañete, Paracas and Pisco, according to the schedule at www.lima2019.pe/voluntariadoo
To participate, applicants must register in the Volunteer Portal: www.lima2019.pe/voluntariado; complete the application and select the training venue and schedule of their choice.
Training in Lima and Pisco
The training sessions in Lima and Pisco will take place this weekend and next Tuesday. The first training will take place this Saturday, March 2 at César Vallejo University in San Juan de Lurigancho (Del Parque 640 Av. – Urbanización Canto Rey.)
Training will take place this Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 at the Technological University of Peru (Arequipa 265, downtown Lima).
On Sunday, February 3, the National University of San Marcos will open its doors to the registered people who will be trained in their main venue (entrance through Gate 3, Universitaria Ave. S/N – University Campus.)
Meanwhile, in the province of Pisco, where the district of Paracas, will host the sailing competitions during the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, two days of training will be held this weekend, in the Don José de San Martín school (Calle José Balta 769. - Pisco Playa).
On Tuesday, March 5, training workshops will take place at the Technological University of Peru (Arequipa 265 Ave. – downtown Lima), and at the Alas Peruanas University, in Pueblo Libre (Jirón Pedro Ruiz Gallo 251).
Training sessions will be divided into two shifts: from 08:00 to 12:00 h, and from 14:00 to 18:00 h. On Tuesday, the available schedules are: from 14:00 to 18:00 h, and from 16:00 to 20:00 h. Participants will must show their DNI (Peruvian ID card). It is important that participants arrive one hour before the beginning of the training to sign in and enter the classroom on time.
Strategic alliances in Pisco
Actions have been taken to spread and promote the Lima 2019 Volunteer Program, as well as to look for alternatives for the transportation of volunteers in the city of Pisco and around the region, through meetings for the strengthening of strategic alliances with representatives of the Pisco Municipality, with the Don José de San Martín school , with the Telesup Institute and with the San Andrés Municipality.
Call for video interviews extension
On the other hand, in order to provide more opportunities for applicants living abroad, it was decided to extend the deadline for video interviews, until Monday, March 18. After this deadline, it is expected to have around 1 000 additional applicants from abroad interested in participating in the Lima 2019 Games.
Benefits of volunteering
Lima 2019 volunteers will have benefits such as the training program provided by the Lima 2019 with the support of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), and they will receive a certificate for their training and participation. Likewise, they will receive a uniform, accreditation, meals according to shift, accident insurance, transport, national and international contact network, and the opportunity to live a unique experience.
There are several functional departments where volunteers can be assigned to, such as accreditation, accommodation, arrivals and departures, transport, medical services, doping control, spectators service, press, protocol, sports, information technology, uniforms, workforce, marketing, among others.
