At the ancient city of Teotihuacan, the Lima 2019 President of the Organizing Committee, Carlos Neuhaus, announced that the Lima 2019 Games start with the Pan American flame ceremony, which happened this morning in Mexico. “We are already in Games mode, we are just fine tuning some details”, he mentioned.
“On Thursday, the flame will appear at the Gate of the Sun, the gate of the Chasqui, in Machu Picchu”, he declared in an interview at a local media what will happen in Cuzco, where the Pan American torch journey will start in Peru.
He also mentioned that the main competition venues are ready and “we are ultimating details like the logistics, security and all things related to visitors from 40 countries so they can have the best opportunities and take home the best memories of Lima”.
“Many Olympic medalists like Nathan Adrian will come. He is a swimmer from the USA with 8 Olympic medals. That is the kind of athletes we will have in Lima 2019”, he mentioned.
Before finishing, he called for the maximum support for our athletes and recommended to show the best side of our city. “Let's stop honking; let’s stop in the middle of the road to pick up passengers; let’s stop bad driving”, suggested Neuhaus.
