The President of the Lima 2019 Organizing Committee, Carlos Neuhaus, highlighted that organizing the Pan American Games enabled the economic development of the country through important acquisitions.
At the ‘Infrastructure and Investments’ event, organized by Comex, Neuhaus pointed out that the construction of sport venues and the development of the multi-sport event will contribute to this year’s GDP growth between 0.5 and 0.7 points.
“Developing the Pan American Games is creating many jobs,” he remarked. The President of the Organizing Committee mentioned that they expect the arrival of around 175 000 foreign visitors. The tourists, from over 40 countries, would generate revenues of about 579.2 million PEN, according to the experts’ projections.
Carlos Neuhaus highlighted in his presentation that 'Lima 2019 contributed in favor of small and medium-sized business through MYPErú purchases, where 23 million PEN were paid for the acquisition of furniture, uniforms, fences, among others.
302 MYPES were hired for the purchase of 213 731 goods, allowing the creation of 2 545 direct jobs, he pointed out.
The Lima 2019 President also mentioned that the infrastructure for the event is 99% complete and that “we are in more of a logistics phase now.” He recalled that the large infrastructure projects were finished over a month ago, such as the Villa El Salvador Sports Center.
