LIMA 2019 UNIFORM AND ACCREDITATION CENTER STARTED OPERATIONS

Less than 43 days away from the opening ceremony of the Pan American Games, the Uniform and Accreditation Center (UAC) started its operations this morning, becoming the first Lima 2019 venue to be activated for the largest upcoming multi-sport event in the continent. This important venue will be located in the Centro de Exposiciones y Eventos "El Vivero" at the Jockey Club.

The Lima 2019 executive director, Carlos Neuhaus Tudela; the Lima 2019 secretary general, Amalia Moreno; the head of the Lima 2019 Volunteer Program, Angela Morales; and the head of Accreditations, Susan Carhuas; as well as the Lima 2019 directors, staff and volunteers participated in this event.

Carlos Neuhaus was in charge of initiating the activities in this critical Lima 2019 venue. "This is the most vital venue of the Games. We will be able to accredit people that work directly or indirectly on the Games. They will work safely and be duly identified. We are already in Games mode, and we are working very hard. I’m sure that we are going to meet and exceed the expectations," he said.

Meanwhile, Amalia Moreno highlighted the work of volunteers who began to help out with the Games at this venue. "I am greatly impressed with this center and the work they do for the accreditations delivery. But above all, I am amazed by the volunteers’ support. We have the support of institutions such as the Peruvian National Police for identifying all the people that will be involved in the Games. This is a milestone for the organization because we are delivering according to the schedule. We are working in an integrated way as a country, and the results will be seen on July 26, at the Games opening ceremony," said the Lima 2019 Secretary General.

Furthermore, Ángela Morales said that "a total of 42 volunteers began to collaborate with Lima 2019. They will be the heart of the Games. This Volunteers Program has been a success because we have already trained 28,000 people, 19,000 of whom will be at the Games. This will be a social legacy. They are going to feel the magic of being of inside the Games," she emphasized.

She also highlighted that the uniforms, which will be delivered to approximately 25,000 people, were made by micro and small business. "The uniforms will be the skin of the Games, and we are going to show everyone that Peru makes high-quality products," she said.

On the other hand, Susan Carhuas said that "accreditation is the result of a lot of effort. It is a dream come true. We are going to provide an Olympic-class service and we only hope that everyone joins us with optimism.”

SYMBOLIC HANDOVER

The ceremony also included the symbolic handover of a Lima 2019 accreditation card and a uniform to Carlos Neuhaus, Lima 2019 executive director. The authorities toured the UAC's service locations to verify its functionality.

During the Games, the UAC will welcome over 70,000 people, among contractors, technical officials, Lima 2019 staff and volunteers, who will be accredited to carry out various activities in this multi-sport event with all the necessary security measures. While a total of 24,876 people (torchbearers, technical officials and workforce) will receive uniforms to carry out their roles.

In the accreditation process, a team of around 30 staff members and 18 volunteers will participate in shifts. Likewise, 40 volunteers and five staff members of the project will work to deliver the uniforms.

There will be over 19,000 volunteers who will participate in the Games, they will be an essential part of the Games, performing different tasks during the development of the multi-sports event. Twelve thousand of them will be in the Pan American Games and five thousand in the Parapan American Games.

LIMA 2019 UNIFORMS

Uniforms are one of the benefits of the Volunteers Program. They will be delivered to about 19,000 volunteers and staff that will be the workforce of the Games. This kit has two T-shirts, two trousers, one jacket and one cap.

The production of the uniforms will be one of the legacies of Lima 2019: micro and small business of MYPErú purchase program will be in charge of the manufacturing process. This aims to promote the manufacturing industry to generate employment opportunities, and economic and social development of the most vulnerable areas of the country, thereby encouraging the micro, small, and medium national business.
