In order to train all people who registered to be part of the Lima Volunteer Program, a new workshop will take place in Lima this February 5. It is expected to conduct the training workshop for around 1000 people interested in participating as volunteers for Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games.
Trainings at Centro de Lima and Pueblo Libre
Trainings will be held at Centro de Lima and Pueblo Libre. The first training will take place at the Technological University of Peru - UTP (Av. Petit Thouars 385 – Lima). The other will be held at the Alas Peruanas University - UAP in Pueblo Libre (Jr. Pedro Ruiz Gallo 251). There will be two shifts in both venues: from 02:00 to 18:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00. Participants must show their ID. It is important for participants to arrive an hour before the beginning of the training in order to sign in and be on time to attend the course.
This training program, scheduled for February 5, aims to provide the volunteers with the necessary tools (knowledge and skills) to successfully carry out their role in the Games, thus contributing to create a social legacy. This program will be conducted jointly with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
This training program will reach 40 000 volunteers, and it comprises about 20 class hours (face-to-face and virtual). These lessons will start with the face-to-face general trainings for the applicants for volunteers residing in Peru, which will take place in the following venues: Lima, Callao, Chiclayo, Trujillo, Cajamarca, Huancayo, Tacna, Arequipa, Cusco, Tarapoto, Ica, Cañete Paracas and Pisco, according to the schedule published on www.lima2019.pe/voluntariado.
To participate in the trainings, people must register in the Volunteer Portal: www.lima2019.pe/voluntariado, fill in the application form and select the training venue and schedule of their choice.

In order to benefit more people, the Volunteer Program registrations have been extended until February 22. To become a volunteer, you only need to be over 16 years old by April 1, 2019, be available at least eight days, not necessarily consecutive days. You must be friendly, proactive and have good teamwork skills. Minors need their parents’ permission, as well as to fill in the required data form at the Volunteer Portal : www.lima2019.pe/voluntariado/inscripciones and follow the steps provided.

Benefits of volunteering
Lima 2019 volunteers will have benefits such as the training program offered with the support of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), after which they will receive a certificate for their training and participation. Likewise, they will receive a uniform, accreditation, meals according to shift, accident insurance, transport, national and international contact network, and the opportunity to live a unique experience.
There are several functional departments where volunteers can be assigned to, such as accreditation, accommodation, arrivals and departures, transport, medical services, doping control, spectators service, press, protocol, sports, information technology, uniforms, staff, marketing, among others.
