Comptroller General of the Republic, Nelson Shack Yalta, and Lima 2019 Executive Director, Carlos Neuhaus, visited this morning the main venues that will house the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games. The Comptroller visited the Bowling Center and the Athletics Stadium, inside the National Sports Village, which are operational and were already delivered to the corresponding sports federations.
In VIDENA, the main competition venue of the Pan American and Parapan American Games, the Comptroller also visited the Velodrome, the Aquatic Center and the Sports Center 3, which have been built and remodeled for the Lima 2019 Games. He was quite satisfied with the top-level sports infrastructure.
The authorities were accompanied by Amalia Moreno, Lima 2019 secretary general; Wilhelm Funcke, project and infrastructure manager; Jaime Reusche, executive board advisor; Alberto Valenzuela, operations manager; as well as other officials from the Comptroller’s office.
Afterwards, they visited the Pan American and Parapan American Village, located in the heart of Villa El Salvador. They visited the apartments of the seven buildings which were built and finished in advance. Overlay works are already on their way for the Games. One of them is the huge dining hall that will serve over 4,000 people.
Shack finished the visit in Villa El Salvador Sports Center, which will house gymnastics and karate competitions during the Pan American Games, and boccia and wheelchair rugby during the Parapan American Games. The Comptroller general was able to see the last infrastructure works executed in this venue to be delivered in the next days.
After the visit, Nelson Shack was satifistied with what he saw in his visit. “This facility is very important for Lima and our country. The Special Project has been building 13 infrastructure works. Today we have visited VIDENA, the Pan American and Parapan American Village and Villa El Salvador Sports Center. With an investment of one thousand million, these works are almost finished. I think they will be finished without any problems in the next weeks and be perfectly ready for July,” he said.
“It is important to mention that this has been done under a new contract model (Government-to-Government Agreement with the United Kingdom), which is linked to a new control model called concurrent control system. We have been systematically accompanied by a multidisciplinary team, which allowed us to resolve any matters arising,” Shack said.
Finally, he added “according to the analysis conducted, there is no reason to think that there will be any problems with Lima 2019 construction works.”
After that, a group of officials visited Villa María del Triunfo Sports Center. There, they could see that most of stages were already delivered to sports federations.
