CONGRESS MEMBERS CHIHUÁN AND DOMÍNGUEZ VISITED CALLAO REGIONAL VILLAGE AND SAN MARCOS STADIUM FACILITIES

Congress members Leyla Chihuán Ramos and Carlos Domínguez Herrera visited the Callao Regional Village and Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos stadium this morning and checked-on the  progress scheduled for the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games.

The members of the Parliament were accompanied by Pilar Gonzales, Alberto Moscoso and Félix Isisola, presidents of the national federations of volleyball, boxing and wrestling, respectively. As well as by Delicia Paredes and Jorge Ramírez, representatives of the Peruvian Taekwondo Federation and the National Paralympic Association of Peru (ANPPERÚ).

First, they visited the Callao Sports Center, competition venue for volleyball and taekwondo during the Pan American Games; and sitting volleyball and para taekwondo during the Parapan American Games. The engineer Wilhelm Funcke, Lima 2019 Project and Infrastructure Manager, explained the works performed in the venue. These must be finished by the end of March.

“The floating sports floor, recommended by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) have been installed installed. The Sports Center will have a capacity for 6100 seats distributed in fixed tribunes and retractable stands, which have already been purchased and will be installed in the next few weeks. Also, the venue has two warm-up courts and all the amenities for athletes and authorities”, added Funcke.

In Miguel Grau Coliseum

In this competition venue, they checked on the remodeling made. This facility is now ready to host wrestling and boxing competitions, as well as goalball during the Parapan American Games.

The federations representatives visited the coliseum and saw the facilities they will use during the Games.

Miguel Grau coliseum was totally remodeled. The evacuation stairs have been expanded and the access ramps have been installed. The works also include the installation of an elevator for people with impairments to access the VIP box and the conference room. Tribunes have also been remodeled and 2400 seats have been installed.

IMPRESSED BY THE PROGRESS

Leyla Chihuán, first vice president of the Peruvian Congress continued the visit along Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM) Stadium. This will be the venue of the South American U-17 Soccer Championship and, during the Pan American Games, it will host men’s and women’s football tournaments.

“After visiting these venues, we can confirm a huge progress. The delivery of works is only one month away and I have seen a very different picture from what we saw a year ago. If we go back to February 2018, we were wondering where some disciplines were going to be carried out at that time . Today, the venues visited are almost ready. Implementation is still pending due,” the member of the parliament added .

“We have took the opportunity for the members of the federations to visit the venue and ask questions. They are pleased with what they have seen”, Chihuán added.

Visits will continue tomorrow with another group of federation representatives in Villa María del Triunfo Sports Center, which will host softball, baseball, basque pelota, hockey and rugby in addition to archery, football 5-a-side and football 7-a-side during the Parapan American Games.
