In order to learn about the main projects ongoing for the Lima 2019 Games, congressman Pedro Olaechea visited the Videna, main competition venue in the Pan American and Parapan American Games. He also visited the Pan American Village, a project in its final construction stage which will receive the athletes and technical officials who will arrive in the country.
The congressman toured the site with the President of the Lima 2019 Games, Carlos Neuhaus Tudela, who was in charge of presenting the progress while accompanying him around the Videna, the first venue they visited. Following their visit, they went to the Pan American Village, future accommodation for almost 10 000 athletes and technical officials.
At the Videna, the main competition venue in the most important multi-sport event of the continent, the congressman saw the constant progress of this project, because gigantic structures are daily raised in this venue. The progress has reached a 75% of its total.
The most recent milestone is the asphalting in the Athletics Stadium, which is in progress and will allow to place a modern competition track. The culmination of the velodrome’s metallic roofing is also scheduled for this month. In addition to the roofing and cover of the Sports Center 3, and the competition and warming-up swimming pools of the Aquatic Center.
Top-level Facilities
The National Sports Village comprises a Velodrome, an the Athletics Stadium, with a warming-up track, a Bowling Center with 24 competition lanes, which are underway. As well as an Aquatic Center with three state-of-the-art swimming pools, the Sports Center 3, in addition to outdoor works and the administrative building, which will also have a Control Center (C2).
Thethe entire precinct will be ready by March 31, 2019, in compliance with the established timetable. Meanwhile, the calibration of the aquatic center's swimming pools will be ready by May 31.
During the Pan American Games the Videna will host the competitions of athletics, swimming, track cycling, badminton, bowling, squash, handball, artistic skating, table tennis and judo. While in the Parapan American Games the velodrome will house Para athletics, Para swimming, wheelchair basketball, Para powerlifting, IPC judo , Para badminton, table tennis and Para track cycling.
At the Pan American Village, in Villa El Salvador, they checked-on the culmination of the towers for accommodation and the major progress on the external works. This venue has reached 95% of its construction and will be delivered in the next few days after culminating its construction.
