In the “semana de la representación” (representation week), congresswoman Paloma Noceda visited the Videna facilities, to check on the major construction progress of the main competition venue for the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games.
The legislator was accompanied by engineer Karen Ríos, Lima 2019 structural expert, and toured around the works that are on their final stage of construction and will later be tested for the multi-sport event to be held in Peru.
Overall, the VIDENA has achieved a construction progress of over 80 %. The roof of the velodrome, remodeled for the Games, has a progress of its deck of over 75 %.
Meanwhile, the Athletic Stadium is in the process of installing the main competition track that has the same specifications that will be used in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The warming-up track has already been installed. While the installation of the competition floor of Sports Center 3, a new building that will house several disciplines, is being finished. The delivery of these scenarios is scheduled for March 31.
As for the Aquatic Center, water tests have started in the warm-up pool. This scenario will be ready by May, due to water calibration issues. It will have an Olympic swimming pool, a warm-up pool and a diving pool. As praised by the congresswoman, after touring the facilities and verifying the progress, all this infrastructure, that will welcome about 10,000 athletes and technical official in Lima 2019, will remain as a legacy for the population.
