PARA POWERLIFTING WORLD CUP SERVES AS LIMA 2019 TEST EVENT

After the success of the Judo Panamerican Championships, Lima 2019 faces the second test event with the opening of the Para Powerlifting World Cup. This championship will take place at the Sports Center 2 of the VIDENA and will gather the best Para powerlifters in the world, between May 3 and 5.

Lima hosts the third stage of the Para Powerlifting World Cup organized by the World Federation, after the competitions in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Eger, Hungary. It will be the first time that the Peruvian capital city stages this type of competition, which will serve as a Parapan American Games test event.

The Lima 2019 Executive Director Carlos Neuhaus Tudela will attend the first day of the competition, together with President of National Paralympic Association of Peru Lucha Villar, and main authorities of the World Para Powerlifting and the Americas Paralympic Committee.

The three competitions start at 10:30, with eight men’s categories and five women’s categories. Peru will present six Para athletes who qualified in the internal tests held at VIDENA. Among the outstanding athletes are: Niel García, from Piura, in the up to 59 kg weight category, Diego Quispe in the up to 54 kg category, Jairo Pérez in the up to category 49 kg, and Nohemí Vásquez in the up to 50 kg category.
