The Amano pre-Columbian Textile Museum will present the temporary exhibition named “Cuchimilco.” The exhibition is composed of more than 50 unique pieces of the anthropomorphic figurine that inspired the design of Milco, the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games mascot.
Dozens of attendees take the chance to take pictures with Milco, who was the main attraction. The ancient character “Cuchimilco” is portrayed in pre-Hispanic ceramic pieces which origin can be traced to Lima. For his kindness towards visitors, Milco is the perfect ambassador and a national identity symbol.
Juan Antonio Silva, the Lima 2019 Communications, Commercial and Marketing manager attended the meeting along with archaeologist Walter Tosso, the exhibition curator. Silva praised this event of the Lima 2019 Cultural Program for promoting our ancient and sports.
“The idea of merging sports and culture is splendid and it will make us value even more our historic cultural identity. This is a unique opportunity to put Peru on the spotlight, we must be great hosts in all aspects,” stated Silva.
The exhibition will be open until August 26 at the Amano Museum, located at Calle Retiro 160 - Miraflores, from 10:00 to 17:00, Monday through Sunday.
