A few months away from the start of the Pan American and the Parapan American Games, San Isidro feels the excitement of such an important international event that will put Peru on the world scene.
This time, Lima 2019 went to the Municipal Sports Center of this district, to participate and spread the Games at the opening of the U17 Municipal Football Championship. There were archery, paleta fronton and tennis exhibitions. Milco, the Games mascot, seized the opportunity to practice sports with children, youngsters and adults.
Brunella Ubillus is 14 years old kid that has been practicing archery for a year. “I like the discipline because archery gives you have peace of mind and concentration. I will be very excited seeing this sport during the Games because I wish to represent my country in the future, but I know that I need to train really hard. Besides, it will motivate more people to practice this sport too,” she said.
Adrián Piscoya is 15 years old and is already participating in the football championship. “I like football. I think the Pan American and Parapan American Games are a great event because they show us equality, culture and it is a way to promote sports. For example, I did not know there was sitting volleyball or wheelchair basketball,” he said.
Carlos Rabanal, Sport and Recreational Deputy Manager, talked about the impact of the Games, not only in his district but also in the entire city of Lima. “The games will have a sporting impact, as well as an impact at economic level, due to the arrival of many tourists, which will result in higher incomes.”
It was an intense sporting morning in San Isidro. Attendees participated in the exhibition of sports with Milco, whose presence seeks to promote integration and the values of the Lima 2019 Games.
