TWO WRESTLING WORLD STARS TO SHINE AT LIMA 2019

This coliseum, located in the Callao district, will gather America’s best wrestlers to see them in action from August 7-10. Among them are two world athletes who will arrive at Lima 2019 to continue succeeding. Greco-Roman wrestling Cuban multi-medalist, Mijaín López, and the American big star of the freestyle wrestling discipline, Kyle Snyder, will shake the courts of the Callao’s stage.

Mijaín López will seek to increase his personal list of triumphs in the 130 kg weight division, including a gold medal at the Pan American Games. In addition, López, one of Cuba’s sports living legends, will arrive as flag bearer of his delegation and as a member of the Panam Sports Team.

Mijaín won gold medals at the Santo Domingo 2003, Rio de Janeiro 2007, Guadalajara 2011, and Toronto 2015 Pan American Games. He has claimed three titles at the Olympic Games (Beijing 2008, London 2012, and Rio 2016) and is a five-time world champion.  The event will take place next August 8 starting at 10:00.

Meanwhile, the American athlete Kyle Snyder will be the center of attraction of the freestyle wrestling discipline. After becoming an Olympic medalist at Rio 2016 and winning first place at the 2015 and 2017 World Championships, he will compete for the gold medal at the Pan American Games. The current champion of the 97 kg weight division is wrestling’s big world star, and all sports fans will be able to see him this August 10.

The competitions to be held at the Miguel Grau Coliseum will take place from August 7-10, and in order to support our compatriots and to see these wrestling stars, you can buy your tickets at www.lima2019.pe/tickets or at the 10 authorized points of sale around the city.
