COACH OF PERU WOMEN'S NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM PRESENTS THE 18 PLAYERS FOR LIMA 2019

Just a few days from the beginning of the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, Peru women's national football team confirmed the official 18 players.  7 football players from Universitario and 7 from Sporting Cristal, including Pierina Núñez who was recently hired by a club in Spain.

Peru is in group B, together with Panama, Costa Rica and Argentina, which comes from participating in the Women's World Cup in France.  It all starts on Sunday 28 July (20:30) in a match against Argentina and their female Messi, Estefania Banini. Peru has also stars such as Miryan Tristán (captain), Gladys Dorador and Pierina Núñez, as well as Cindy Novia and Emily Flores (wings). As for defense, Katarina Comesaña who plays in the United States is the leader of the area together with Maryory Sánchez.

The national team has two matches with Bolivia this week. The national team lost against Bolivia 3-0 at the Peruvian Football Federation sport center. The second match will be on Saturday, 29 June at the Inmaculada Jesuitas de Surco School, in Lima. The match is scheduled for 10:30 AM.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION

The women’s football competitions will be held between July 28 and August 9 at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos Stadium. Other participants, besides Peru, are Colombia, Argentina, Paraguay, United States, Jamaica, Panama and Costa Rica. There is no age limit for calling players.

The championship format includes an initial stage of two groups of four teams and the best two will move on to the semi-finals. There will be 30 minutes of extra time and the penalties in the case of a draw.  This is how the finalists and the winners are defined.

ON THE VENUE 

The San Marcos University Stadium was the second infrastructure that was finished by the organization of the Pan American Games. The delivery was completed on March 13 after being remodeled by Lima 2019.  The Comebol South American U-17 Championship was successfully hosted three months ago at the stadium. 

The venue has a level 1 turf, with three stands with a capacity for 13 000 people which were tested at said tournament. It also has a 8-line athletics track, four changing rooms, one press area and one VIP Box for authorities and guests.
