London, United Kingdom: Representatives of the Lima 2019 Organizing Committee completed a three-day visit to the United Kingdom to take a closer look and to apply the London 2012 experiences and lessons learned in Lima.
As part of this visit, Lima 2019 executive director, Carlos Neuhaus and Jorge Muñoz, major of Lima, visited the main London 2012 venues and held meetings with important representatives of one of the most successful Olympic Games in modern history.
The visit was held in conjunction with InPERU Business and Investment Road Show. In this context, 40 top leading Peruvian companies traveled to the United Kingdom accompanied by the Peruvian Minister of Economy, Carlos Oliva.
During the last few years, the relationship between Peru and the United Kingdom has strengthen after the United Kingdom was designated, in April 2017, as the main delivery partner for the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games.
The Government-to-government Agreement has allowed the arrival of the best British experts who had a key role in London 2012, to work with their Peruvian counterparts and organize the Games in Lima.
During his visit, the Lima 2019 president, Carlos Neuhaus said: “The Pan American and Parapan American Games will be a historic multi-sports event in Peru and a one-of-a-kind chance to leave a significant legacy, which we are committed to maximizing”.
“That’s why we have visited the London 2012 Olympic Park to get firsthand experience of how the Games allowed London to transform one of the most disadvantaged areas of the city into the enthusiastic community we see today.”
“I want to thank our hosts for their excellent hospitality and willingness to share so many lessons learned in London 2012 so that they could be successfully applied in Lima,” Lima 2019 President said.
