Since the Lima 2019 ticket sales started, gymnastics has been one of sports with the highest number of sold tickets.
The top gymnastics teams of the Americas, such as the United States, Canada, Brazil, Venezuela and Cuba, will present their current and future stars at the Villa El Salvador Sports Center, and Peru will not fall behind.
Therefore, expectations about this sport are getting higher and higher.
Fifty days before the start of the event, the Peruvian rhythmic, artistic and trampoline gymnastics teams are finalizing details at the Villa El Salvador Sports Center, hoping to win medals.
This dream is shared by Daniel Agüero, Peru’s best representative in floor exercise, one of the eight disciplines that male gymnasts will compete for at Lima 2019.
Agüero obtained the fourth place at the World Cup that was recently held in Croatia.
With an improved competition level—including a silver and a bronze medal at the 2017 Bolivarian and 2018 South American Games, respectively—Agüero will compete at his second Pan American Games after placing ninth at Toronto 2015.
“I have to get a medal for Peru in floor exercise or vault this time.
That’s why we’ve been training very hard to give a great team performance.
I can already see the sports center packed and our team getting a historical result with the support of our people.
It’s going to be exciting,” said the Peruvian the 18-year-old gymnast.
THE GIRLS SET THE RHYTHM
Five teenagers make up the rhythmic gymnastics team. There were selected by coaches Dixon Pau and Cuba’s Maricela Rodríguez as part of a project that started in 2014.
Aitana Orrego, Carmen Lucero, Georgina Vidal, Camila Rodríguez, and Flavia León seeks to impress the judges at Lima 2019.
The Peruvian team has had amazing performances lately.
After finishing fourth at the Colombian South American Games, they will have an intense preparation period starting in July in Brazil to improve their performance in 5 balls and in 3 hoops with 2 pairs of clubs.
Also, the Peruvian representative in individual events, Carla Corminboeuf, is training in Europe.
“We’re very excited to participate in such an important event.
We’ve been preparing hard since last year, up to four hours a day, to improve our technique.
To imagine this stage packed and our families and friends cheering on us motivates us to give our best,” said the Peruvian gymnasts.
