Lima will be on the spotlight from July 26, when the Pan American Games are opened. The “Soy Lima 2019” campaign continues to promote the most important sports event in the Americas, together with the handball team members.
“Physical activity and sports help us to study and to improve our health . This is why I say, ‘Let’s all play for Peru showing faith and joy,’” said Susana Córdova, General Director of Physical Education and Sport from the Ministry of Education.
The Education official was interviewed during the campaign presentation at Institución Educativa Fe y Alegría No. 34, located in the district of Chorrillos. In addition, the children spent 10 minutes doing exercise, as stated in the Ministry of Education regulations.
The students welcomed athletes and later asked them questions about sports.
“Coming to these schools and sharing what we do is a unique experience. It’s so memorable because the joy and effort they show is lovely,” stated Fernando Buitrón, one of the team members.
Shirlley García also shared some secrets about sports. “Kids were so excited because they dream of being like us one day,” she explained.
Rosa Cristóbal, school principal, highlighted the socio-cultural activity and the sport exhibition. “I liked the fact that they're spreading values and that athletes interacted with the children. They are role models because they show effort and commitment to achieve their goals,” he emphasized.
“The Pan American Games should be a legacy for the kids, because they are the future of sports. I hope that the message they get is not only about discipline but about friendship too,” said André Camborda, who will also take part in the Games.
