The Lima 2019 Organizing Committee deeply regretted the fire that affected INDUSTRIAS FARCO PERU S.A.C., the small business that was supposed to deliver 320 beds for the Pan American and Parapan American Village. Its vehicle transporting the beds was caught on fire.
It is important to mention that INDUSTRIAS FARCO PERU S.A.C. will deliver a new batch of furniture in approximately 20 days. This incident will not have a big impact in the installation of furniture in the Village, as it was scheduled to start on May 13. However, the installation of beds and other furniture for the Games started early on April 26.
Taking into consideration that these products were purchased under the MYPERU purchase program, Lima 2019 has offered to report the situation to FONCODES and provide technical support, so that the company is able to honor its contractual commitment. On the other hand, the Ministry of Production has offered to manage financing options for this small business.
The batch produced by the company had passed all technical inspections and even the pre-audit. The furniture was approved to be delivered and installed in the Pan American and Parapan American Village today, May 6. That is why the company decided to start loading their trucks on May 4 in its production plant.
Yesterday, May 5, a fire started in a truck parking lot located between Alfredo Mendiola (Panamericana) and Av. Universitaria in Los Olivos district. Around 14:00, the fire started in one of the trucks parked and it spread to other trucks around, one of which belonged to INDUSTRIAS FARCO PERU S.A.C. The causes of the fire are still unknown.
INDUSTRIAS FARCO PERU S.A.C. is a small business that was supposed to provide 320 beds to Lima 2019 within the MYPERU purchase program, that promotes the purchase of furniture from micro and small business duly certified by PRODUCE.
