A red surface was installed in the 100 meters lane of the Athletics warm-up track in Villa Deportiva Nacional (VIDENA). As a result, the great construction, which will become from next July the main competition venue for the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games, has now a special color.
Since yesterday afternoon, international experts supervised the entire installation of the red synthetic material special layer, which is very similar to that used in the London 2012 Olympic Games. This morning, the process continued with the final stretch and the two curved sections. The experts estimate the track will be ready by the end of the week.
Natural grass has also been installed in the central field of the warm-up track for field events and throwers’ preparation.
Meanwhile, the works in the main track continue and the roofed official grandstand, where the main offices, VIP box and broadcast booths will be located, makes the stadium look magnificent.
During the Pan American and Parapan American Games, the Athletics stadium will have a capacity of 12 000 spectators. And after the games, it will have a final capacity of 6000 people.
OTHER WORKS IN VIDENA
The roof installation in VIDENA Velodrome continues. This morning, layer covering the structure over the Velodrome started its installation.
The firsts water tests for the warm-up swimming pool of the modern Aquatic Center have already started. On the other hand, other team of workers began the installation of technical implements in the 24 Bowling Center lanes.
VIDENA will be the heart of the Games, as it will house Athletics, Swimming, Track Cycling, Handball, Judo, Badminton, Table Tennis, Figure Skating, Bowling and Squash during the Pan American Games.
On the other hand, it will house Para Athletics, Para Swimming, Wheelchair Basketball, Para Powerlifting, Para Judo, Para Badminton, Para Table Tennis and Para Track Cycling during the Parapan American Games.
