Becoming a volunteer for the Pan American and Parapan American Games and living this unique experience is an opportunity that many are waiting for. Therefore, everyone interested in the Lima 2019 Volunteer Program should register before Friday, February 22 to be part of the most important multi-sport event in the continent.
Volunteers will become the heart of the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games. To be a volunteer, you need to be over 16 years old by April 1, 2019. There is no age limit. Volunteers should be available for at least eight days, not necessarily consecutive days.
The people who would like to be a volunteer should be friendly, proactive and a good team worker. Minors need a parental consent. Likewise, they have to fill in the mandatory data of the Volunteer Portal form: www.lima2019.pe/voluntariado/inscripciones and follow the steps. Everyone can register, whether you live in Peru or abroad.
More than 90,000 people interested
It is important to mention that the Lima 2019 Volunteer Program was launched worldwide on September 11, 2018, and so far, more than 90,000 people have showed interest to participate in this initiative.
From this group, more than 53,000 people finished the registration process and almost 16,000 have started the training process to be suitable candidates for volunteering in the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games.
Most of the people who filled out the registration form are between 18 and 24 years old (more than 30,000 in total). Meanwhile, more than 1,500 senior adults registered and around 400 people have some type of impairment.
Furthermore, more than 6,000 people living abroad have showed interest in joining the Volunteer Program. Many of them have already passed the online interviews and are ready for the online training. The majority of them live in Argentina, although people from America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania have also expressed their interest.
Benefits of volunteering
Lima 2019 volunteers will have benefits such as the training program offered with the support of the United Nations, and they will receive a certificate for their training and participation. Likewise, they will receive a uniform, accreditation, meals according to shift, accident insurance, national and international contact network, and the opportunity to live a unique experience.
There are several areas where volunteers can be assigned to such as accreditation, accommodation, arrivals and departures, transportation, medical services, doping control, spectators’ services, press, protocol, sports, information technology, uniforms, workforce, marketing, among others.
