The call for the Lima 2019 Volunteer Program was very successful in Peru and abroad. A total of 100,094 people showed their interest in participating in the biggest multi-sport event in the continent by registering to be volunteers for the Pan American and Parapan American Games.
From that total, 60,110 people completed the registration of all their data, and many of them already went through the training process. The first stage of this process will end with the selection of volunteers for Lima 2019. However, the other 39,984 people, who were also interested in participating, still have the chance to go through the training until March 17, as long as they fill out the registration form, as it is the last date to receive the training. It is important to mention that registrations began on September 11, 2018, and ended on February 22, 2019.
Something important to highlight is 58.53% of the people registered are women (35,185), and 75.28% of them are between 18 and 30 years old. Most of the registered people come from cities in Peru such as: Lima, Callao, Arequipa, Chiclayo, and Trujillo.
Furthermore, most of the international applicants to become volunteers come from Argentina, 2,476 (4.12%) and Brazil, 983 (1.64%). This adds up to more than 6000 people from abroad interested in volunteering. On the other hand, 529 people have some type of impairment and among them 36.11% have a physical-motor impairment.
