With the attendance of almost 50 international broadcasting companies, as well as television and radio channels, the second World Broadcaster Meeting began this morning at the Lima Convention Center, organized by Lima 2019 and the Host Broadcaster of the Games, Mediapro.
The event aims to show the means that the different national and international media will have to broadcast the signal of the Pan American and Parapan American Games to the world, as well as the Opening and Closing ceremonies.
Carlos Neuhaus Tudela, President of Lima 2019; Keith Joseph, Vice president of Panam Sports; Pedro del Rosario, head of the Peruvian Olympic Committee and Francisco José de la Fuente, Director of Mediapro, were in charge of the opening of the event. Among the participants were the continent right-holders, as well as other partners of Lima 2019, like Atos, who will be in charge of timing, scoring and results systems of the Games. They will participate in two intense days of work.
Neuhaus welcomed the attendees and expressed that the main intention of the seminar is to show the progress achieved by the different Organizing Committee functional areas, such as the sports project, the competition calendar, transports, logistics, accreditations, and the update on the progress of the construction sites.
“What matters is that we are working non-stop towards our goal. I would like your stay here to be useful, important and beneficial so we can solve all the concerns and problems that may arise,” he expressed.
On his part, Keith Joseph, representing the President of Panam Sports, Neven Ilic, pointed out that this is a key opportunity because the success of the Games will be due in large part to its broadcast and the impact it has on people through the media.
“Mediapro is responsible for showing the competitions, the joy of triumph, and the emotions of the medallists. We do not doubt that your work will have the highest quality standard and that is part of the legacy of the Games. We are in the final phase of which will be the greatest Games in history, and we are confident that Lima 2019 will be a great event, and that you will be part of its success,” stated Keith.
De la Fuente also expressed that – during these days – the Mediapro group will provide updated information about its operations plan, production plan, master plan, simultaneous signals, IBC design, spaces distribution and more.
“Mediapro will do everything necessary to make Lima 2019 a great success. We want these Games to be a reference for the future. We are in the final stretch and everyone can appreciate everything has progressed well. We are very excited,” he concluded.
