Lima 2019 ambassadors, Pilar Jáuregui, Dunia Felices and Gina Parker, received a recognition and a diploma of honor during the event "Peruvian Women who Inspire", organized by the third vice presidency of the Congress of the Republic, by the congresswoman Yeni Vilcatoma.
At the Alberto Andrade auditorium, located in Juan Santos Atahualpa building of the Legislative Power, congresswoman Yeni Vilcatoma highlighted the role of Peruvian women in the balance of family, country and life, being very important and an inspiration for many people, as well as the opportunity to succeed in any field.
"This morning we are gathered to honor the women who knew how to stand out in society; some of them are people with impairments and have the gift of representing our country in international competitions, thus inspiring all Peruvians," Yeni Vilcatoma said.
The first woman to be recognized was Pilar Jáuregui, outstanding badminton Para athlete, current Parapan American badminton champion and Lima 2019 Parapan American Games medal prospect.
"Sport was and is very important in my life. It allowed me to overcome many things, and today I train a lot to represent Peru in the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games,” Jáuregui said.
Then Gina Parker, host and presenter, told briefly how perseverance and positive mindset helped her stand out in her career, which currently seeks to overcome barriers and empower Peruvian women.
In turn, Dunia Felices, Para swimmer athlete, spoke about sports and arts as agents of change in her life. She excelled in swimming and made art exhibitions in Europe, despite her condition as a quadruple amputee.
Finally, during the ceremony, Angelica Harada, Edda Airaldi, Ena Espinoza, Rosaflor Vallejos, Sara Purca, and Sonia Malca were also awarded; they expressed their gratitude in an emotional ceremony.
