Carlos Neuhaus and Sebastián Suito, visited the construction site in VIDENA, which is 80% complete.
Carlos Neuhaus, Lima 2019 president, and Sebastián Suito, Director of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD), toured the National Sports Village (VIDENA), main venue of the Pan American and Parapan American Games.
“We are working together for the sake of Peruvian sports and the Pan American and Parapan American Games. We are coordinating constantly and smoothly; we made a commitment to our country and we working together. The project will be delivered on March 31, three months in advance, in order to inspect every detail,” said Neuhaus. He also mentioned that construction is 80% complete.
He also highlighted the important legacy this project will leave behind for Peruvian athletes. “It is a pleasure to work together with IPD because, after the Games, this will be used by our athletes,” he stressed.
Sebastián Suito stated that, after this first official venue tour, he is impressed with the construction progress. “I leave here pleased and confident that everything is on track. Peru is going to have top-level facilities to motivate people to lead a healthy lifestyle and to promote high performance sports,” he said.
He pointed out that Peru will participate in Lima 2019 with a delegation of 700 athletes, who are receiving the necessary support to achieve a great performance at the Games. “We dream about making history when it comes to the organizing events, where everything goes as planned, as well as in sports.”
As we know, the following facilities have been built and remodeled at VIDENA: a modern Velodrome, the Athletics Stadium, the Aquatic Center, the Bowling Center and Sports Center 3, among others. Additionally, this venue will also host the following competitions during the Parapan American Games: Para athletics, Para swimming, wheelchair basketball, Para powerlifting, Para judo, Para badminton, Para table tennis and Para cycling track.
