The Lima 2019 Organizing Committee announced the improvement of the mural they were working on for the Pan American and Parapan American Games, after the front of the Colegio Politécnico del Callao school was damaged by vandals.
The artistic expression represents the Pan American sport values of respect, excellence and friendship; as well as the Parapan American values of equity, inspiration, courage and determination.
The organization urged the citizens to respect and take care of the different artistic and cultural expressions that are made in Lima and in many other cities of our country for the Pan American and Parapan American Games.
Furthermore, the Lima 2019 Organizing Committee invited all Peruvians to join and live the experience of the Pan American and Parapan American Games, the largest multi-sport event in the country, as Peru will be in the spotlight.
The Lima 2019 Games are an opportunity to show our country’s best features and its cultural diversity to thousands of visitors, and so is the mural that is being painted by the Peruvian artists of “Proyecto Perú Wayna”.
Accordingly, Lima 2019 informed that the artists in charge of these works are assessing the damage to determine the repainting costs and time and to establish a new schedule of activities.
It is worth mentioning that the Pan American Games will gather 6680 athletes from 41 countries from the Americas, and the Parapan American Games will gather 1890 Para athletes from 33 countries.
Finally, in accordance with the Pan American and Parapan American values, Lima 2019 urged citizens to put their respect and friendship into practice to welcome the best athletes in the continent.
As we all know, Callao will be one of the main venues for Lima 2019. The Callao Regional Sport Village will house wrestling and boxing during the Pan American Games, whilst all goalball competitions will be held at the Miguel Grau Coliseum. Additionally, the Callao Sports Center will host volleyball and taekwondo during the Pan American Games; as well as Para taekwondo and sitting volleyball during the Parapan American Games.
