We are just over two months away from one of the greatest milestones in Peru’s history. As of July 26, the opening of the Pan American Games, Peru will experience the greatest multi-sports event in the continent, which we have the privilege of organizing for the first time.
The participation of every citizen is important because it will prove we are a welcoming country and good hosts. We will be welcoming close to 10 thousand athletes and technical officials at the Lima 2019 Games, first starting with the Pan American Games and, on August 23, with the Parapan American Games.
For this purpose, the Games Organizing Committee put up a large billboard referencing the Games in the entrance of the Jorge Chávez International Airport. This airport is the main arrivals and departures terminal in Peru, through which the top athletes in the continent, and thousands of national and international tourists, will arrive for this great celebration.
“The Jorge Chávez International Airport is Peru’s main point of entry. As such, it must be prepared to receive the thousands of competitors, officials and tourists that will visit our country. From a marketing standpoint, we want the sports celebration that will be experienced in Peru to start in our first international airport,” stated Juan Antonio Silva, Communications, Commercial and Marketing Manager of Lima 2019.
Milco visited the airport and drew the attention of many travelers and airport workers, who did not hesitate to take a photo with him.
The airport is getting ready to receive 40 delegations composed of approximately 10 thousand people, including athletes and technical officials.
“During the Pan American and Parapan American Games, Peru will be under the world’s spotlight. Therefore, we are working with Lima 2019 in order to provide a better travel experience for all athletes and visitors that we receive at the Jorge Chávez International Airport. We have developed a plan, alongside the airport’s main stakeholders, to provide the necessary support that an event of this magnitude entails,” stated Juan José Salmón, CEO of Lima Airport Partners.
It must be noted that, additionally, 175 thousand tourists from all over the world are expected to arrive in Peru to experience the multi-sports celebration, third only to the Olympic Games and the Football World Cup in importance. All eyes will be on Peru and we must be ready for it. For the time being, you can already feel the Games’ presence at the Jorge Chávez International Airport.
