LIMA 2019 CLOSES THE GENERAL TRAINING PROCESS OF THE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

With a grand finale, the Lima 2019 Volunteer Program closes the in-person training process aimed at more than 20,000 people from Lima and provinces, who applied to become volunteers in the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games.

The last in-person training will take place in Lima, Cañete, Paracas and Huacho this weekend, venues for the Lima 2019 Games, where the participation of nearly four thousand people registered in the Program is expected. The training has the support of the United Nations Office for Project Services - UNOPS.

The deadline for video interviews was extended until Monday, March 18, for applicants residing abroad. It is expected to have about 1000 additional applicants from abroad, interested in participating in the Lima 2019 Games.

Training aims to provide participants with the necessary tools, knowledge, and skills, to carry out their role successfully in the Games and create a social legacy with an emphasis on volunteering in our country.

After completing this phase of general in-person training and video interview (in the case of foreigners), applicants must continue with the next stages indicated in the Volunteer Route https://www.lima2019.pe/voluntariado.

In this context, the general virtual training continues (five modules): its purpose is to strengthen the knowledge of the applicants for their participation in the Lima 2019 Games. Then, a proposal for a volunteer position will be sent according to the preference and profile of the applicant, as well as the demand of the area (Volunteer Portal) between March and May. The process concludes with the acceptance of the position, thus becoming a volunteer for Lima 2019. The next step will be the specific virtual and in-person training at the venue, between April and July.

It should be noted that, in the overall process, there were a total of 100,094 people who showed their interest in participating in the largest multi-sport event in the continent, pre-registering to be volunteers at the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games.

Last training in Lima, Cañete, Huacho, and Paracas

The training will continue on Saturday 16 at the Technological University of Peru (Ave. Arequipa 265, Lima). The next day, it will be in the same university, in the headquarters located at Ave. Petit Thouars 385, Lima.

In provinces, the training will be held on March 16 and 17, in Bahía de  Paracas, at the headquarters of the District Municipality (Communal premises AA.HH. Santa Cruz - Zone B - Paracas.) Paracas will be the venue for sailing competitions.

At the same time in Cañete, that will host the Lima 2019 Games at the Lunahuaná and Bujama venues, the training will be held at the National University of Cañete (Casa de la Cultura, Ave. Mariscal Benavides, San Luis de Cañete.)

Finally, in Huacho, that will also host the Pan American Games with the Albufera de Medio Mundo in Vegueta, where the rowing and canoe sprint races will take place, the training will be held at the José Faustino Sánchez Carrión National University (Ave. Mercedes Indacochea 609, Door No. 1, Huacho.)

Training will be divided into two shifts from 08:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 18:00. Participants will have to arrive an hour early before the start of the training and show their ID to be able to sign in and participate of the course.

Grand finale

The training process will conclude this Sunday 17, from 12:00 hours, in a festive atmosphere, at the Auditorium of the Technological University of Peru - UTP (Ave. Petit Thouars 385, Lima), where hundreds of aspiring volunteers will enjoy music and dance performances.

Benefits of volunteering

Lima 2019 volunteers will have benefits such as the training program offered with the support of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), and they will receive a certificate for their training and participation. Likewise, they will receive a uniform, accreditation, meals according to shift, accident insurance, transport, national and international contact network, and the opportunity to live a unique experience.
