Lima and Peru are preparing for an unforgettable experience, not only organizing the largest multisport celebration of the Americas, but also the greatest cultural program, where all Peruvians and tourists will watch the best artwork and music shows.
Juan Antonio Silva, Lima 2019 Communications, Commercial and Marketing manager, gave details of this program, starting on July 27 at the Parque de la Exposición de Lima, that will open its doors to everyone for free.
The “Culturaymi” is the cultural program of Lima 2019: The Games are not only sport but also culture. We announced the 46 winners of the five categories of the Lima 2019 public call, which included music, performing arts, visual arts, art for social transformation and clothing design. Winners were evaluated by jury of experts, who volunteered following the ‘Let’s all Play’ spirit,” said Silva on a radio interview.
Juan Antonio Silva said there were over 400 cultural projects submitted to be part of the program. “There are great artists among the winners, such as Teresa Fuller, daughter of Chabuca Granda; and well-known Peruvian creole music artists like Victoria Villalobos and Los Mirlos, who auditioned as if they were new artists. Everyone will have the chance to enjoy their music for free at the Parque de la Exposición since 27 July. Lima expects to receive around a million visitors, eager to see the best of Peruvian music, theater, video art, photography, clothing designs,” he said.

Like the “Mueseo hecho a Mano” of Miraflores, which on July 11 will begin the exhibition of Cuchimilcos, figurines which inspired the design of Milco, the Lima 2019 mascot,” commented Silva.
“It's a great opportunity to show who we are and the best of our culture to 400 million people worldwide. This will help us show our society’s organization. After all, at the opening ceremony, Peru will be the on the spotlight. It will be a spectacular show with people, artists and fireworks, prior to the Bicentenary anniversary. As for the “Culturaymi”, this program aims to show, in 38 days, the best of the country,” he stated.

He highlighted that Lima 2019 is the biggest sporting event in Peru’s history and will be a world-class event. “Olympic class representatives of USA, Canada, Jamaica, Cuba, Brazil, will compete to qualify to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
