LIMA 2019 DELIVERS TEN SCENARIOS FOR PAN AMERICAN AND PARAPAN AMERICAN GAMES

A little less than three months before the opening of the Pan American Games, scheduled for July 26, the Organizing Committee has delivered 10 new scenarios that were built and remodeled for the largest multi-sport event in the Americas, which will held for the first time in Peru.

The first handover ceremony was for the Baseball Diamond at the Villa María del Triunfo Sports Center, which was delivered ahead of time to the federation of this sport. Since then, the Peruvian baseball team has been training hard in this amazing facility as part of their preparation for the Pan American Games.

Lima 2019 also handed over the Hockey Stadium to the Peruvian Hockey Federation, for the training of their male and female players, ahead of their participation in the Pan American Games. This scenario was built by the Lima 2019 Organizing Committee in the Villa María del Triunfo Sports Center, which will also have a warm-up field. This is the first time Peruvian hockey will have two official "blue courts" thanks to the Pan American Games.

SAN MARCOS HAS A MODERN STADIUM

Thanks to Lima 2019, Peru will have world-class sports infrastructure. The Stadium of the National University of San Marcos was remodeled in less than a year by the Lima 2019 Organizing Committee and just housed the U-17 South American Championship with great success. The construction works in San Marcos started in May of 2018 and were completed before its initial deadline of March 31.

Before celebrating the 100-day countdown, many venues were also delivered such as the Basque pelota and paleta frontón courts. Currently, the national teams of both sports are training at these facilities located at the Villa María del Triunfo Sports Center, hoping to obtain a medal for Peru. The next venue delivery will be the Softball Stadium in the same sports center, which will also have a training field.

VIDENA

Two scenarios were delivered at the National Sports Village: the warm-up track of the Athletics Stadium, where Peruvian athletes had their official tryouts; and the Bowling Center. The latter was built under the athletics warm-up track, has 24 lanes and is being used by the national bowling team for training.

CALLAO

As part of the celebrations of the "100 days until the Lima 2019 Games" countdown, the Organizing Committee of the largest multi-sport event in the continent achieved one of its most important milestones thanks to the delivery of two new scenarios located at the Callao Regional Village: the Callao Sports Center and the Miguel Grau Coliseum. The first one was built to accommodate over 6000 spectators and will house volleyball in Games-time, in addition to the taekwondo, Para taekwondo and sitting volleyball (the last two during the Parapan American Games). Meanwhile, the coliseum was remodeled with a capacity for over 2000 spectators and is expected to house all wrestling and boxing competitions, as well as goalball during the Parapan American Games.
