LIMA 2019 DELIVERS THE BOWLING CENTER OF VIDENA TO THE PERUVIAN BOWLING SPORTS FEDERATION

Lima 2019 accomplishes a new important milestone with the delivery of the amazing Bowling Center, the seventh precinct was officially presented by the Organizing Committee. This center will be used by the Peruvian athletes to continue with their training for the Pan American Games.

Carlos Neuhaus, Lima 2019 executive director; Wilhelm Funke, Lima 2019 project and infrastructure manager; Juan Carlos Yuzuriha, president of the Peruvian Bowling Federation; and the preselected athletes of men’s and women’s teams attended the official event.

“Shopping centers were the main sports promoters for a long time and, at the same time, there was the problem of professional Bowling. But this is not a shopping center, it is a CAR (High Performance Center). We design it with two ideas in mind: it had to be a center with an easy where young people could come to practice the bowling,” Neuhaus explained.

Funcke said that the opening of the bowling center is a great opportunity to bring the population closer to a not so popular sport, until now.

“It is a really significant moment. It has been a great opportunity to host the Pan American Games in Lima, to improve the country’s sports infrastructure. We hope the facilities will fulfill everyone’s expectations and needs, for athletes who practice bowling and fans, but specially to increase the popularity of this sport.”

Likewise, the Peruvian Bowling Federation president said that it is a historic event with many years for the Peruvian bowling.

“The first bowling center in South America was built here in Peru, in 1908. Now we have a new big 24-lane house with the best technology. Peruvian bowling has a history, a ‘before’, and thanks to Lima 2019 it will now have an ‘after’.”

Sebastián Yuzuriha and Kenny Kishimoto, captain of the Peruvian bowling team, also gave a speech full of enthusiasm. “With the opening of this bowling center, the Peruvian bowling will improve and become more popular,” said Yuzuriha.

“With this 24-lanes court we will be able to compete with people from all over the world. I thank Lima 2019 because this facility is impressive, I am really speechless, it is a dream,” said Kishimoto.

A total of 16 countries from Panam Sports will participate in Lima 2019, this guarantees the participation of the top 64 bowlers of the Americas. Peru will have two representatives in men’s and women’s categories. They will be chosen in a Pan American championship to be held in Lima.

COMPETITION SYSTEM

The bowling competition will be held from July 25 to July 30 and it will be played in singles and doubles events, both for men’s and women’s categories. Singles will be played in five phases and only in the qualifying round we will have two series of six games per competitor. The semi-finals stage will only have one game.

Likewise, doubles will be played in one stage, with two series of six games per athlete, that is a total of 24 games per country. The winner will be the team that knocks down more pins. Even though the men’s and women’s categories are independent, the rules and regulations will be similarly applied for both.
