Everything is ready for the largest multi-sport event Peru has ever held. In 49 days, Peruvians will witness a historical celebration that will mark their society, the Opening Ceremony of the Lima 2019 Pan American Games. This is the event that we have all being waiting for and now it is just around the corner.
On July 26 Peru will see the results of its great efforts. It will be a spectacular night, where the top athletes from 41 countries will shine, and Luis Fonsi’s hits will be sung all over the world.
The Lima 2019 Organizing Committee has built top-level sports infrastructure that will remain as a legacy for the country and will make Peru a potential venue for the best international competitions.
There are only 49 days until Lima 2019 and the main venues that will host most athletes during the Pan American and Parapan American Games have already been delivered.
So far, 18 stages have been handed over, so that the Peruvian athletes can train to be in the best conditions to compete against other countries.
Therefore, stages such as the stadiums for baseball, hockey, rugby and softball; the VMT Aquatic Center; and the Basque pelota and Peruvian frontón courts are currently operational. The Villa María del Triunfo Sports Center will house all of these sports and was the first venue to be completely delivered.
VIDENA
The National Sports Village, main competition venue, will host the most sports and disciplines. The modern Aquatic Center, the warm-up track of the Athletics Stadium and the Bowling Center have already been delivered to the federations; as well as the Velodrome, certified by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), and the new Sports Center 3, which was certified by the World Stake thanks to its artistic roller skating rink.
The Aquatic Center of the VIDENA will host all swimming, artistic swimming and diving competitions during the Pan American Games, as well as Para swimming during the Parapan American Games.
Both athletics and Para athletics competitions will be held at the Athletics Stadium, while track cycling and Para-cycling track will take place at the Velodrome. The Sports Center 1 will house handball and judo during the Pan American Games and wheelchair basketball, during the Parapan American Games. Also, the events of the adapted version of judo and Para powerlifting will be carried out at the Sports Center 2 during the Parapan American Games. Bowling will be held at the Bowling Center and squash, at the Volleyball High-performance Center.

The Peruvian volleyball team now trains at the Callao Sports Center, which will also house taekwondo, Para taekwondo and sitting volleyball (the latter two during the Parapan American Games). In regard to the Miguel Grau Coliseum, it will host boxing and wrestling during the Pan American Games and goalball during the Parapan American Games. It is worth mentioning that the Stadium of the National University of San Marcos has been recently delivered and hosted the U-17 South American Football Championships.
Last Thursday, the Villa El Salvador Sports Center was handed over to the Peruvian Gymnastics Federation after a construction period of 12 months. This venue will host the kata and kumite karate disciplines during the Pan American Games, as well as boccia and wheelchair rugby during the Parapan American Games. This sports center will remain as a legacy for other sports.
EQUESTRIAN SPORTS

Furthermore, the main stage for jumping and dressage has three courses made of silica sand for competition, warm-up and training. This stage has a total surface area of 19,500 m2, complying with the standards and requirements of the International Equestrian Federation.
EDUARDO DIBÓS COLISEUM
On the other hand, improvements were made at the Eduardo Dibós Coliseum in the district of San Borja. This venue will host the basketball and 3 x 3 basketball events, a discipline that is new for Peruvians.
The construction works are still in progress at the Surfing High-performance Center in Punta Rocas and at the Las Palmas Shooting Range; however, they will be delivered in time before the Opening Ceremony of the Pan American Games, just like the Costa Verde circuit in San Miguel that will house beach volleyball, BMX, speed skating, road cycling, among others.
PAN AMERICAN AND PARAPAN AMERICAN VILLAGE
The construction works at the Pan American and Parapan American Village, located in Villa El Salvador, have been completed. This will be the main accommodation venue during the Lima 2019 Games and will be the first accessible housing complex for persons with an impairment.
