This morning, the President of the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games Organizing Committee, Carlos Neuhaus, participated in the delivery of a stretch of the Costa Verde Expansion Project in San Miguel. At the ceremony organized by the Municipality of Lima, mayor Jorge Muñoz highlighted that the investment made by Lima 2019 will be a road infrastructure legacy that will benefit 129,000 people in Lima.
This two-kilometer stretch, located between Av. Escardó and Jirón Virú, will facilitate transportation from San Miguel to Chorrillos of all competing delegations. It will connect the existing roads in the beach circuit to be used by athletes, officials, and fans attending the venues.
“This road being delivered in San Miguel is part of the contingency plan to improve traffic flow in Lima during the Pan American Games. We expect around 70,000 tourists to come to Lima, and most of them will stay close to the competition venues, so this will make the transportation of delegations and spectators during the Games much faster,” Neuhaus said.
In turn, mayor Muñoz pointed out that this stretch connecting the districts of Miraflores, Barranco, Chorrillos, San Isidro, Magdalena del Mar and San Miguel will improve the traffic flow of vehicles traveling to the competition venues.
“We have been working jointly with the district and COPAL to show improvements to the city. We should keep in mind that this construction work started this year, and the field was delivered in January. So, we've delivered it within the estimated deadline for completion, and it will improve traffic flow of official vehicles and the general public for the Games,” Muñoz added.
