The Lima 2019 Executive Director, Carlos Neuhaus, highlighted the government-to-government agreement with the UK for the Pan American and Parapan American Games. He also noted the importance of knowledge exchange, one of the legacies that will remain for Peru.
Neuhaus said that one of the contributions of this agreement was the NEC contract, applied to Lima 2019 main construction projects. Most of these projects have already been delivered and the rest will be delivered in the next days. In this way, Lima 2019 became a successful public management model, he said.
Because of these contracts success, the Government is considering the application of the Lima 2019 model in major infrastructure projects.
The head of Lima 2019 said that the Games’ Organizing Committee manage a budget reduction of over PEN 770 million, thanks to decisions made for the construction of new venues and and the remodeling of existing facilities. “Due to our cost-cutting efforts, Lima 2019 Games are the only event that manage to stay below the budget in recent times”.
Neuhaus also highlighted the arrangements made by the Ministry of Transport and Communications for the infrastructure works to access Lima 2019 venues. He informed that the road to the equestrian sports venue in La Molina is already finished and the Panamericana Sur will be ready in the next days, as well as the Armendáriz viaduct in Miraflores. He also said works will be carried out on the Pachacutec avenue to connect the Pan American and Parapan American Village with the Villa Maria del Triunfo venue.

Kate Harrisson, British Ambassador in Peru, said that the Games will be a success. “We are working on that and we have also learned from Lima 2019 experience”, she stated.
Then, she announced that negotiations are underway with the President of Peru Martín Vizcarra for the development of a National Infrastructure Plan, due to the successful outcome of contracts applied in Lima 2019. “The Games experience will be a clear work plan for important infrastructure projects. “We have shown that this kind of project can be successfully applied and delivered. Also, austerity is a key concept in the Lima 2019 project” Harrisson added.
