The Lima 2019 Executive Director, Carlos Neuhaus, presented this morning the progress made by the Organizing Committee of the Pan American and Parapan American Games to the foreign press.
He talked about the route for the Pan American and Parapan American Torch Relay and how Lima 2019 will encourage tourism in the country due to the impact of the Games.
“We hope tourism increases after this event. We must take advantage not only of our millenarian historic past, but also of our present. In my opinion, sports and culture should work together,” said Lima 2019 Executive Director.
The was held at the modern Bowling Center at VIDENA. The purpose of the presentation was to show the world Lima 2019 milestones and demonstrate that Peru is prepared to host the best Games in history.
On the other hand, Lima 2019 Operations Manager, Alberto Valenzuela, highlighted the importance of the Pan American and Parapan American Games legacy for our country. He also made a report on the transport system and security to be deployed during the Games.
“Our mission during the Games operation is very clear: to transform the lives of people participating in it. Lima 2019 represents the effort of almost 10 million people from Lima, Callao and many people from other provinces who will actively participate in these Games,” said Valenzuela.
Regarding the transport of athletes and officers, he said that Lima 2019 has designed an exclusive transport system for the Games that will connect the Jorge Chávez International Airport with the Pan American and Parapan American Village, the IBC (International Broadcast Center), the MPC (Main Press Center), the competition and non-competition venues and the official hotels.
The Lima 2019 Operations Manager also said that exclusive lanes will be implemented and they will be secured by operating measures coordinated by the National Police of Peru (PNP).
Regarding security, he mentioned that the National Peruvian Police (PNP) will assign over 10 thousand police officers both for transit and security; while the Armed Forces will assign almost 3,000 officers, 1500 of which will provide support to the PNP.
Finally, the Lima 2019 Executive Director and the journalists visited various sport venues at VIDENA such as the Athletics Stadium, the Aquatic Center, among others built for the Pan American and Parapan American Games.
