Lima 2019 Organizing Committee promoted sitting volleyball and fencing which are part of the Pan American and Parapan American Games at the Tupac Amaru School, in La Victoria district, as part of the program “TOP Peru at Schools 2019.”
Over 500 children from primary and secondary education enjoyed and participated in the show given by the Peruvian athletes.
Eduardo Garcia Biel, Peruvian fencer participating in Lima 2019, mentioned that “it was amazing to see young children playing and having fun with us. They are so excited”.
“We will always remember this exhibition. That is what happened to me when I was seven and I fell in love with this sport,” he added.
John Cordova, member of the sitting volleyball Peruvian national team, mentioned that “playing with children is great. It was a good interaction because this lets them get in contact with the sport and learn a little bit of it.”
Susana Cordova, National Director of Physical Education and Sport from the Ministry of Education mentioned that “we should try to inform students about the Pan American and Parapan American Games so they learn about different and new sports. Our goal is that we all play.”
“Lima 2019 is a great opportunity to remember that we should include schools and families in this sports celebration,” he mentioned.
Marcelo Barzola, Principal of the Education Institution Tupac Amaru, is committed with the promotion of sports in the Games. “Let everybody hear that we will host the Games because it is a great opportunity to show our country to the world,” he highlighted.
Fencing will take place at the Lima Convention Center, in San Borja. Volleyball will be held at the Callao Sport Center.
This way, Lima 2019 continues promoting and spreading the Pan American and Parapan American Games, promoting also the integration and values they represent.
