Just 11 days until the Lima 2019 Pan American Games opening ceremony, the Lima 2019 Organizing Committee presented the creative team and the artists that will take part in the opening of the most important sports event in the continent.
The Lima 2019 best-kept secret was revealed. The “dream team,” showing the best of Peru to the world at the four ceremonies, was presented in a press conference. The events promise to be exciting and captivating from beginning to end.
These ceremonies will be produced by the Italian company Balich Worldwide Shows, an international leader in the live entertainment industry. Some of its team members are responsible for the Torino 2006, Sochi 2014, and Rio 2016 Olympic ceremonies.
The Lima 2019 Pan American Games opening ceremony will be held on Friday, July 26, at the National Stadium, and around 50,000 people in the grandstands and boxes are expected to attend this event. Delegations of the 41 countries will parade, and over 6700 athletes will be received with applause from the crowd.
The show will feature 1700 artists on stage, including dancers, acrobats, and live musicians, who will bring the most amazing Peruvian landscapes to the stadium and will light up the Peruvian sky with the history of the Pan American Games.
TOUCHING HEARTS
The Lima 2019 Organizing Committee President Carlos Neuhaus pointed out they have been working very hard to make Peru to take on the commitment to present the best Games ever.
“We'll touch hearts. They'll be proud to be Peruvians. The opening ceremony will showcase what the country is made of: the thousands of years of Peruvian history. The show couldn't be simple because 400 million people will see us,” stated.
Also, he noted the record number of 22 sports, achieved by the organization, that will be qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
After thanking the creative director Francisco Negrin and the choreography director Vania Masías for their support, Neuhaus also had words of praise for the Municipality of Surquillo and its logistics support for the casting and rehearsal process. “It's a pleasure to have them on this great team,” added.
PERUVIAN TALENT TO THE WORLD
Outstanding Peruvian artists will be part of the big multidisciplinary creative team that will turn the opening ceremony into a 100% Peruvian event. The choreography director Vania Masías has spent several months training and holding auditions for volunteer dancers. The musician and song writer Lucho Quequezana, who is responsible for the musical direction, is meticulously preparing every sound and musical note.
Pepe Corzo will show off his talent in costume designs and unique props portraying Peru. Besides, Pauchi Sasaki is planning a surprise for us that will shake the National Stadium, and Elliot Túpac will show his colorful art during the whole ceremony.
Singers Guillermo Bussinger, Sandra Muente, Shantall Young, and Pelo D’Ambrosio will join their voices together to delight the audience. The performance of Peru's most famous tenor of all time, Juan Diego Flórez, will be one of the main attractions of the night.
WORLD-CLASS EXPERIENCE
Recognized creative director, Francisco Negrin, will lead the opening ceremony. He has traveled across Peru for more than a year to learn about the country and to be able to portray an ancient and modern Peru. Working alongside him is the Greek set designer Thanassis Demiris, recognized for his work during the Baku 2015 European Games opening ceremony.
Dimitra Kritidiki, a choreographer with extensive experience after participating in the Athens 2004 and the Sochi 2014 Olympics, and the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games ceremonies, will supervise the dancers’ performance. This dream team will also include the video director Luke Halls , who has worked on the tours for Adele, Beyoncé, U2, and Rihanna; and the light designer Adam Basett, who has vast experience in theater plays and special events around the world.
