Lima 2019 stands up to help the victims of rains and landslides in the Peruvian southern regions through the Cáritas del Peru campaign “Perú da la Mano” (“Peru gives a hand”). This campaign collects donations such as bottled water, non-perishable food, toiletries, medicine and blankets.
In this context, the Pan American and Parapan American Games organization will arrange three collection centers in Lima to collect donations at the Volunteers Program training venues.
Donations will be received on Saturday 23 from 8:00 to 18:00 at Peruvian University of Applied Sciences – UPC in San Miguel. The other collection center will be located at Universidad Tecnológica del Perú – UTP (Technological University of Peru) of Lima Centro (Av. Arequipa 265, Lima).
Next day, Sunday 24, donations will be received also in UTP of Lima Centro and Ate (Carretera Central Km. 11.6, Urb. Santa Clara. Applicants in training to become Lima 2019 volunteers can donate at the beginning of the informative talk that they will be given as part of the training process.
This initiative is promoted in accordance with the value of “Friendship”, one of the Pan American and Parapan American Games values. It encourages to consider sport as a mutual understanding instrument among people from all over the world. “Sport cannot disregard solidarity.”
