Lima 2019 took part in the II National Volunteer Meeting 2018, held on the International Day of Volunteers, celebrated on December 5 every year.
The Lima 2019 Volunteer Program shared information with the participants of the event about the entry and participation process that launched on September 11. The purpose is to form the biggest volunteers team in Peruvian sport history.
Angela Morales, head of this program, outlines that 19, 000 volunteers will be required for the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games.
“We want to invite all people and organizations to merge in one team and be part of this unparalleled event in our country. Next year, Lima will be the host of a big celebration. We will be the venue of the Pan American and Parapan American Games and the time has come for our city to stand up,” said Angela Morales.
Requirements & benefits
To become a volunteer, you only need to be over 16 years old by April 1, 2019, be available 8 days minimum, not necessarily consecutive days. You must be friendly, proactive, and work in teams. Minors will need their parents’ consent. And fill out the mandatory personal data of the Volunteers Website form. Entries will be open until December 31.
Lima 2019 volunteers will have benefits, such as a training program provided by Lima 2019 and the UNOPS (United Nations Office of Projects Service) and they will receive a Certificate of Training and Participation. In addition to this, they will receive uniform, accreditation, meals according to the shift; accident insurance, national and international contact network and the opportunity to live a unique experience.
The Head of the Volunteers Program said there are eighteen functional areas where volunteers can be assigned to, such as accreditation, accommodation, arrivals and departures, transportation, medical services, doping control, spectators service, press operations, protocol, sports, information technology, uniforms, workforce, marketing, among others.
National Meeting
The Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations was in charge of the organization of the II National Meeting of Lima 2019 Volunteering Program, with the participation of Municipality of Lima and the Network “I am Volunteer”. was under .
Volunteering organizations that shared their experiences, also participated , besides promoting the initiatives that are taking place in several zones of the country.
People that visited the Lima 2019 module at Parque de la Exposición, where this event took place, were invited to play mini-bowling and to take pictures with Milco, the official mascot of Lima 2019.
An activation was performed with the participation of all assistants encouraging them to properly answer questions about the requirements & benefits that will be granted to volunteers, according to previously given information.
