Alberto Valenzuela, the general manager of the Pan American and Parapan American Games, on behalf of the Organizing Committee, presided an important meeting with the Provincial Municipality of Callao, in which the municipal authorities agreed to support the Organizing Committee in order to successfully carry out the largest multi-sport event in the continent, in Peru.
Many representatives of the various Lima 2019 functional areas—Transportation, Security, Spectator Services and Medical Services—and heads of the Callao competition venues, members of the Operations department, participated in this meeting. Meanwhile, Yuri Vilela, advisor to Mayor Pedro López, alongside Callao Municipality officials, were also at the meeting.
The officials are fully committed, that is why they announced an important investment they will make to repair streets and sidewalks close to the venues, which will be ready before the Pan American Games begin.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to this international event by ensuring the streets will be cleaner and safer, in order to receive the thousands of athletes and tourists that will arrive for the Pan American and Parapan American Games.
Additionally, Municipality of Callao representatives announced they will conduct a cultural program, in which they will present a series of shows in different parts of the port, including concerts, plays, dances and food festivals, in order to catch the attention of visitors so that they learn about tourist attractions in Callao.
