Artistic expression. Lima 2019, in partnership with the Municipality of San Luis and COSAPI successfully carried out the first drawing and painting contest called “VIDENA and Lima 2019 Games” in which 500 students from 10 schools of San Luis competed. Romina Fernández, student of the sixth grade at the Villa Jardín 1204 school, occupied the first place and won this contest with her drawing referring to a wheelchair basketball competition.
This is a Parapan American Sport that will be part of Lima 2019 Games. She was awarded a laptop, a bicycle and a diploma. Her school was awarded three additional laptops. Esteban Yataco, 10 years old, won the second place. He is a student of the second grade at the Miguel Grau Seminario school. His drawing was inspired by the Aquatic Center that is currently being built at the VIDENA. Esteban was awarded a diploma, and also a laptop as well as an additional laptop for his school.
Both winners recognized that sports and infrastructure will be important to achieve the success for Lima 2019 Games. Romina, winner of the contest, said: “I admire people with impairments who practice sports. It is difficult for me but for them it is easy.” Esteban said: “I saw the news that beautiful stadiums are being built in VIDENA.” The award ceremony for the winners was held in their respective schools with the participation of Lima 2019 and COSAPI representatives.
The awards were given by COSAPI which is in charge of the Velodrome, Aquatic Center, Athletics Stadium, Bowling Stadium and Sports Center 3 construction at the VIDENA. THE JURY The jury was made up of the outstanding Para swimmer and Lima 2019 Sports Ambassador Dunia Felices, who is also a renowned visual artist, and a COSAPI representative. The jury considered the drawings were original and done individually by the students. ABOUT THE DRAWING AND PAINTING CONTEST The Contest aimed to promote the sports of the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games. The students with the best art proposals were awarded as well as their educational institutions. The contest began on Monday, November 19 and ended on Wednesday, December 5. 500 students from the Cantuta, San Juan Masías, San Luis, Santísima Virgen de Fátima, Villa Jardín, Miguel Grau Seminario, Apóstol San Pedro, Los Educadors, Madre Admirable, Santa Matilde schools participated in the contest.
