Lima 2019 Executive Director informed that the stands of the Callao Sports Center will be fully constructed in 15 days.
The Lima 2019 Executive Director, Carlos Neuhaus Tudela, presented the progress made in the construction of the Callao Sports Center, a work that will be constituted in the Callao Sports Center, venueof the male and female Volleyball competitions, Taekwondo, as well as sitting Volleyball and Para taekwondo during the development of the Pan American and Parapan American Games.
The Lima maximum authority toured the different facilities of this future large sports center with an athletes delegation composed of members of the women's and men's volleyball teams, as well as Para Taekwondo,
"As you can see, this work in Callao started in June of this year and in 15 more days you will see all the grandstands built," Neuhaus said.
This new Sports Center, with a capacity for more than 6 thousand people, will become one of the great Lima 2019 legacies and will turn Callao into an important center of sports development in the country. "The new Callao Sports Center will be an excellent legacy for peruvian sports and for the Callao people," said the Lima 2019 Executive Director.
Athletes
The athletes delegation who visited the Callao Sports Center was integrated by the women's volleyball players, Karla Ortiz, Brenda Lobatón and Esmeralda Sánchez; the captain of the men's volleyball team, Eduardo Romay and the selected ones of Para Taekwondo Angelica Espinoza, Manuel Navarro and Ivonne de la Cruz.
Likewise, the president of the Peruvian Volleyball Federation, Pilar Gonzales; and the coaches of the women's and men's volleyball teams, Francisco "Paco" Hervás and Juan Carlos Gala, respectively.
Athletes were satisfied and motivated by the progress of the projects and by what this represents for the development of the sport and they affirmed that they train focused to go up to the podium and win medals during the Lima 2019 Games.
The highest technology
This Venue project is using the highest technology that requires a high level stage - the same as Sports Center - , which will have a spatial structure ceiling of 95 meters of free separation between columns, Floating sports floor of around 4300 m2 for the Volleyball practice. It will also have retractable tribunes inside.
You can also see important progress in the project execution, in regard to the construction of four fixed tribunes, the shuttering of the columns, the emptying of concrete in beams and columns, the installation of beams and prefabricated stand roofs and the first floor of the sports arena.
Work has been done on the shuttering spaces in each platform for the installation of four elevators, as well as those related to the construction of masonry walls and concrete floors, fields for heaters, access to the grandstands, the main door and ramps of access to the sports scene.
"Miguel Grau Coliseum"
On the other hand, works are being carried out around the Miguel Grau Coliseum which will have a capacity in seats for 2 thousand 400 spectators. This coliseum is in remodeling phase, so the maintenance of the roof's metal structure is carried out and the new sanitary facilities of the Hygienic Services are worked on.
To increase accessibility for people with disabilities, the evacuation stairs have been widened, an elevator will be installed for the main grandstand and access ramps will be installed.
Wrestling, Boxing and Golbol competitions will take place during the Pan American Games and the Parapan American Games at the Miguel Grau Coliseum.
Raquetbol competitions will take place at the Miguel Grau Coliseum that's why two additional fields will be built, for simultaneous competitions, during the Pan American Games.
San Marcos Stadium
The San Marcos University stadium stands are currently being refurbished to adapt them to international events safety standards and to the installation of fixed and folding seats that will have a 22 thousand people capacity. the stadium of the National University of San Marcos, which is also part of the work being carried out at the Callao headquarters,
Metal fences in poor condition have been removed to replace them with new ones; modules of existing bathrooms in poor condition have been demolished to proceed with the construction of 16 new modules.
Approximately 600 m2 of new changing rooms are also being built in accordance with the requirements of FIFA for international events and the preparation of earthworks for the installation of synthetic grass court and athletic track is getting ready.
