The Pan American and Parapan American Games organization welcomed the approval of the Bill of Law 3966 of the Congress of the Republic. This bill of Law determines that Peruvian athletes and Para athletes who obtain a gold, silver or bronze medal in Lima 2019 will receive a special prize: an apartment at the Pan American and Parapan American Village.
With a total of 64 votes in favor, no abstentions and none dissenting vote, the Law 3966 that “rewards medalists” was approved. This was an initiative presented by the first Vice President of Congress, Leyla Chihuán, and supported by the head of the Educational, Youth and Sports Commission, Milagros Salazar.
The regulation, exonerated from the second vote, considers winners both individually and in teams. Each person will be given the title deed of one of the 1096 apartments built in the district of Villa El Salvador.
“Athletes are the main representatives of this event and their performance will inspire our population to practice sports (...) and in the development of personal skills to be used in their educational and professional performance,” said the congresswoman during the Congress debate to approve this law.
“The Village has seven towers, three with 19 floors and four with 20. There are 548 apartments of 70 m2, 212 of 73 m2, and 336 of 75 m2. These last apartments were modified and were made accessible for people with impairments. Each building has four elevators with a capacity for up to 18 people and wheelchair access.
