The Lima 2019 Volunteer Program plans to train this weekend 2300 people in Pisco, Trujillo, Los Olivos and Villa El Salvador, as part of the training and selection process of the 19 000 volunteers for the Pan American and Parapan American Games.
The Head of the Lima 2019 Volunteer Program Angela Morales, indicated that this is the sixth training date. She specified that the general trainings started in Cusco, Arequipa, Chiclayo, Tarapoto, Cañete and Huancayo, as well as Lima, where the training has been taking place every Saturday and Sunday.
“This Training Process is carried out together with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), an entity that develops training actions to support Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games.”, she said.
Also, she explained that this Training Process is one of the most important benefits for Lima 2019 volunteer program. “Not only will we train the volunteers, we will also give them a certification that allows them to accredit all the experience and knowledge they acquire during this stage of the Games,” said Angela Morales.
Likewise, she indicated that in addition to participation of the Training Program, the volunteers will have other benefits such as uniforms, accreditation, food according to shift; insurance against accidents, national and international contact network and the opportunity to have a unique experience.
Registration until December 31!
Angela Morales pointed out that the registration finishes on December 31, 2018 in the website www.lima2019.pe/voluntariado/inscripciones.
The Lima 2019 representative indicated that the registration form must be completed and submitted to be able to choose the training venue.
She also said that to become a volunteer, you only need to be over 16 years old by April 1, 2019. Be available at least 8 days, not necessarily consecutive days. You must be friendly, proactive and work in teams. Minors will need their parents’ consent. It is mandatory to complete the required data of the Volunteer Portal form
She indicated that there are several functional departments where volunteers can be assigned to, such as accreditation, accommodation, arrivals and departures, transport, medical services, doping control, spectators service, press operations, protocol, sports, information technology, uniforms, workforce, marketing, among others.
Training
In Trujillo, the trainings will take place this Saturday and Sunday at Cesar Vallejo University (located at Larco Av. 1770, Víctor Larco Herrera, Trujillo - La Libertad). In Pisco, the training will take place at “José de San Martín” Educational Institution (located at José Balta Street 769, Pisco Playa, Pisco - Ica). The schedule for both trainings are from 8:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 18:00.
In Lima, the Training Program will take place in both venues; today Saturday at César Vallejo University in Los Olivos (Alfredo Mendiola Av. 6232, Panamericana Norte) and tomorrow Sunday at Autónoma del Perú University in Villa El Salvador (Carretera Panamericana Sur Km 16.3), in the schedules aforementioned.
Participants will be able to enter one hour before to check and register their attendance. They must show their ID and in the case of minors, they must present the authorization document from their parents or legal guardians as specified on the website of Lima 2019 Volunteer Program.
Training Program
The training program will be delivered to 40 000 volunteer applicants and will include around 20 class hours between face-to-face and virtual trainings.
