Many people wanted to become volunteers for the Pan American and Parapan American Games and live a unique experience. To this end, their last chance is until tomorrow, Friday, February 22, to enroll in the Lima 2019 Volunteer Program, to be part of the most important sporting event in the continent.
The volunteers will be the heart of the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games, to be held in our country for the first time. To become a volunteer, you only need to be over 16 years old by April 1, 2019, there is no age limit. Also, you must be available at least eight days, not necessarily consecutive days.
Those who want to become volunteers should be friendly, proactive and able work in teams. Minors need their parents’ permission and complete the mandatory data of the Volunteer Portal form: www.lima2019.pe/voluntariado/inscripciones and follow the instructions. Any person, resident in the country or abroad, can register. The deadline is Friday 22, by midnight.
More than 90,000 people interested
The Volunteer Program for the Lima 2019 Games was launched nationally and internationally on September 11, 2019, and to date, more than 90,000 people have have participated in this initiative.
Over 53,000 people completed their registration process, and nearly 16,000 started the training process to be among the suitable applicants to become volunteers in the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games.
most applicants who have completed registration form are between 18 and 24 years old (more than 30,000). Additionally, there are more than 1,500 registered older adults and about 400 people with an impairment.
Besides, more than 6,000 people living abroad have participated in the Volunteer Program. Many of them have already gone through virtual interviews and are preparing for virtual training. Most of them live in Argentina. There are also applicants from many countries of the Americas, as well as Europe, Asia, Oceania, and Africa.
Benefits of volunteering
Lima 2019 volunteers will have benefits such as the training program provided by Lima 2019 with the support of the United Nations. At the end of this training program, volunteers will receive a certificate for their training and for their participation. Likewise, they will receive a uniform, accreditation, meals according to shifts, accident insurance, the possibility of building a national and international contact network, and the opportunity to live a unique experience.
There are several functional areas where volunteers can be assigned to, such as accreditation, accommodation, arrivals and departures, transport, medical services, doping control, spectators service, press, protocol, sports, information technology, uniforms, workforce, marketing, among others.
